Donation for 51 Roma families in the Roma neighborhood of Vidin

9 march 2021

On February 4, 2021 and March 7, 2021, NGO Organization Drom made a donation in the town of Vidin (Nov Pat neighborhood) to 51 Roma families who are in distress as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. 176 Roma children and their families received basic foodstuffs purchased with funds provided by the National Children's Network through the Kahane Foundation. In addition, NGO Organization Drom, which also runs the Helsinki store in Vidin, donated clothes to all children.

NGO Organization Drom from Vidin is one of the oldest functioning organizations in Bulgaria with about 25 years of experience in the field of human rights, education, media, access to housing, innovation and entrepreneurship. The main focus of work is the Vidin region, which is the poorest economic region in the European Union. The mission of the organization is to support the integration of the Roma community in Bulgaria. The Covid-19 pandemic has had an extremely negative impact on the country's poorest community. A huge percentage of the Roma population in the Nov Pat Neighborhood, which is inhabited by Roma families, lives on the brink of survival today.
