20 November 2025
Organization Drom, UCCU and CampusRom met virtually few weeks ago to discuss the preparation of workshops under the RomaREACH project in Bulgaria, Hungary and Spain with 25 young participants (16-30 year-olds).
The objectives of the workshops: (i) offer practice-oriented activities that provide young people with tools, methods, and strategies to formulate recommendations, policy, and community action ideas; (ii) formulate concrete recommendations for the EU Roma strategic framework as well as national Roma-related plans and strategies; (iii) collect best practices and analyse them; (iv) support participants acquire new active citizenship skills; and (v) discuss the future of Roma activism. It was proposed that the events take place at the same venue and participants from the training, organized earlier in the year, are invited too. The workshops are supposed to be organized in early 2026. However, Organization Drom proposed to organize the activity in Bulgaria in November 2025 so that there is more time for dissemination of project results.
During the meeting, UCCU explained about the first camp they organized in the summer. In fact, they managed to involve around 20 young people in the joint work. The youth are very enthusiastic, open-minded, and curious and they have great ideas. Since then, UCCU has organized several meetings, both online and in person, and they have also started working on the videos for the project. The goal is to select up to 3 people from this group to take to Brussels in April 2026 during the Roma Week for participation in a conference under the RomaREACH project. CampusRom managed to involve 6 young people, who are actively trying to compile a list of those who can join the project. Organization Drom explained they travelled to the capital and other large cities during the summer, where they met with local organizations and young people to promote the project. For the new workshop, Organization Drom is looking for new participants.
